Simonsen and McClellan Thank the New Jersey Shellfisheries Association for Unanimous Endorsement
Cape May, NJ — Assemblymen Erik Simonsen and Antwan McClellan of New Jersey’s Legislative District 1 expressed their gratitude to the New Jersey Shellfisheries Association (NJSA) for their ongoing advocacy and for the Association’s unanimous endorsement of their reelection campaigns.
“We’re honored to have the continued support of the NJ Shellfisheries Association,” said Assemblyman Simonsen. “Their partnership and tireless work on behalf of New Jersey’s coastal and aquaculture industries make a real difference for South Jersey’s economy and environment.”
Assemblyman McClellan added, “The shellfisheries community represents the heart of our coastal heritage and future. We’re proud to stand with them as we continue fighting in Trenton for policies that strengthen our bayshore communities and protect local jobs.”
The NJSA’s 2026 legislative priorities, as highlighted in the newsletter, align with efforts led by the LD-1 Assembly team, including:
Advancing Senate Bill S4273, redefining aquaculture to modernize and strengthen the industry;
Securing electric utility assistance for nurseries and hatcheries struggling with high energy costs; and
Expanding industry representation on the Aquaculture Advisory Council to ensure stakeholder voices are heard.
