LD1 Winter Update: Cape May County Closures, Service Changes, and Warming Center Operations Ahead of Winter Storm

As a major winter storm is expected to impact the region this weekend, Cape May County officials have announced several facility closures, service modifications, and emergency warming center operations to ensure public safety. All plans remain subject to change as weather conditions evolve.

Below is a full breakdown of what residents should expect in the coming days.

County Closures and Service Updates

County Parks and Zoo

All Cape May County Parks and the Cape May County Zoo will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Fare Free Transportation Services

Fare Free Transportation will operate on a limited schedule on Monday, providing only essential services, including:

  • Dialysis transportation

  • Meals on Wheels deliveries

  • Transportation to and from Code Blue warming centers

All other Fare Free Transportation services will be suspended to protect riders and staff during hazardous conditions.

Cape May County Senior Centers

All county senior centers — including Lower Township, North Wildwood, and Upper Township — will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Cape May County Library System

  • Cape May Court House Main Branch: Closed Sunday and Monday

  • All other county library branches: Closed Monday

Warming Center Operations

To support unsheltered individuals and residents in need, the Cape May County Warming Center will be open throughout the duration of the storm.

Warm beverages and light refreshments will be available in the evening, with warm beverages and light breakfast items provided in the morning.
